Hello CT IFA,
I have some “late breaking” news from Hartford. The links for news clips that I am sending are coming from the Republican party in Hartford – this not meant to be partisan, they are for informational purposes to help us have clarity on what has and is happening at the Capitol.
Representative Candelora was optimistic about financing for the state of Connecticut on 4/30/24, just a week ago.  Here is a clip from his news report then:
Yesterday, with less than 3 days to go in the legislative session, at 4:30 in the morning, the majority party in Hartford submitted a new budget. The new budget changes where money is going and eliminates guardrails on fiscal responsibility. In addition, the people who presented these changes in the final hours of the legislative session are denying that it is a new budget.

There are many problems with a lack of fiscal responsibility for our state. I am asking us all to pray for these last two days of the legislative session to be productive for the future of Connecticut.  How can we be most productive? I believe by shining a light on the darkness.
Here are a couple of prayer points:
  1. Thank the Lord for exposing the truth
    John 17:17: “Sanctify them in the truth; Your word is truth.”
  2. Pray for all those who are speaking truth
    John 16:13: “When the Spirit of truth comes, He will guide you into all the truth, for He will not speak on His own authority, but whatever He hears He will speak, and He will declare to you the things that are to come.”
  3. Pray for all those who are reporting truth
    Proverbs 12:22: “Lying lips are an abomination to the Lord, but those who act faithfully are His delight.”
  4. Pray for more people to report the truth
    Jeremiah 3:15 – “And I will give you shepherds after my own heart, who will feed you with knowledge and understanding.”
  5. Pray for protection of the people of Connecticut from unnecessary taxation
    Isaiah 54:17:“No weapon that is fashioned against you shall succeed, and you shall refute every tongue that rises against you in judgment. This is the heritage of the servants of the Lord and their vindication from me, declares the Lord.” 
  6. Pray for us to be freed from slavery and bondage from corruption in government
    Galatians 5:1: “It is for freedom that Christ has set us free. Stand firm, then, and do not let yourselves be burdened again by a yoke of slavery.” 
  7. Pray for the Lord’s people to RISE UP to run for office and fill positions in our state government
    Exodus 18:21: “Moreover, look for able men from all the people, men who fear God, who are trustworthy and hate a bribe, and place such men over the people as chiefs of thousands, of hundreds, of fifties, and of tens.”
  8. Thank the Lord in advance for the victory we will have in November
    Psalm 69:30 (ESV): “I will praise the name of God with a song; I will magnify Him with thanksgiving.”
